If you didn’t know already the title of this post is a quote from the amazing Marilyn Monroe, and I think it sums up this post very well. Something I love is fashion. Its something I have focused a lot on lately because it gives me a break from the fast paced technology and business environments I am used to working in on a day to day basis.
As I have gotten older, I have been more in tune with what works for me and what things look good and don’t look good on me. I love to mix and match outfits and see what looks best, versatility is key in my wardrobe. I have my plain white shirts, plain black shirts, I have my plain T-Shirts. I have my bold red chinos, my pink and mustard chinos, my polka dot shirt what Im wearing as I type this, and my wacky prints. I have my amazing black trench coat and also a white one to be versatile to a light or even a darker themed outfit to break it up and be a bit different. This leads me to another amazing quote from Coco Chanel, and it goes like this;
In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.
This is what I aspire to do. I always try and be different. I don’t like going with something because its in trend, I like to evade trends. Sometimes whats in trend is something I like so in that case I shall wear it but most of the time I try to avoid it, and dress as me. Conforming has never been something I have liked. Thats why I want to be a entrepreneur. Change things and make an impact on the world with my technology business. Same with my fashion.
Lately I have also hit a conundrum. I want to revamp my wardrobe. The problem lies with how.
I want to be modern, bold, yet sophisticated. I want more colour, and sharp lines. I have been searching the web for what I want and this is what has been the successes so far.
These are the style of jackets I ADORE at the moment! I love the over the shoulder look and Have been doing that with my black trench coat, it changes the look completely and looks awesome in my opinion, its not very practical in winds but hey ho you look good haha.
I also like the not seeing the zip (I don’t know if it has a name?) But I find that so cool! The jacket almost acts like a single piece of fabric with no visible zip or buttons, but hidden underneath.
On the trouser front I want to invest in more colours. The red trousers. I own already. Bloody LOVE THEM! They are my fave by far! I want to pair a bold single colour trouser with a plain single colour shirt or t-shirt / jumper. Thats what I am aiming for, as the trousers become the main attraction and the shirt simply accompanies them and adds a finishing touch to the entire outfit. I also want to do the opposite and find some really nice vibrant printed shirts / t shirts or bold single colour jumpers and shirts and pair them with a plain trouser, like a dark denim or chino.
I am liking the bold colours at the moment, they look visually breathtaking and make you stand out. Which I love!
Thats it from me on the fashion front, and I shall write another post soon with what I have done so far in my quest to revamp my wardrobe!
